"It is only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on Earth and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up that we will begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it were the only one we had."

~ Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

The real truth is that we have limited control over anything and anyone in this life and the sooner we accept that reality the quicker we can get on the business of enjoying life to its fullest. In order to make the journey worthwhile we must throw off the rigid coats we wear which prevent us from being flexible to change and believe that if we let go and let God everything will work out for our good and His glory. I dare you to live life without any reservations and trust that when you give life 100% you will reap the benefits along the way.

~ Nadia C. Thomas

Shape and Tone the Upper Arms

Do you feel confident enough to wear a tank top or to wave to a friend without feeling your arm flapping like batwings in the wind? Now that spring is finally here, it’s time to uncover some areas that might have been concealed since last summer. To do it with confidence, try these exercises to tighten and shape the back of your arms!

Overhead Tricep Extensions

  • Position feet shoulder width apart, pointing straight ahead.
  • Start with the arm holding the dumbbell overhead perpendicular to the ground, elbow fully extended.
  • While maintaining total body alignment, bend the elbow into flexion and keep upper arm perpendicular to the ground.
  • AVOID letting your back arch at ANYTIME.
  • Complete 2-3 sets of 12 repetitions.

  • Bending the arms, slowly lower the body down until the shoulders are just above elbow height-inhaling whilst doing this, straightening the arms the body will return to the starting position-exhaling during this phase.
  • Maintain good form.
Keep reps at a controlled speed.
  • Only lower the body to where you feel comfortable.
  • Compete as many as you can before your arms begin to fatigue

These exercises should be performed as part of a complete exercise routine. If you are currently inactive, contact your doctor prior to beginning an exercise program. For a more complete program, CALL ACTIVE IMAGE AT (416) 410-8517 or email us at info@activeimage.ca.

Plan for Better Health

The faster life gets, the more we seem to cram into our days. With a little planning and effort active, healthy living is possible in this fast-paced world.

Pack your gym bag the night before and put it at the door
Make time for and record your exercise sessions in your daytimer
Grocery shop and pack a nutritious lunch so that you won't have to visit the food court on your lunch hour
Go to bed earlier so that you will have the energy to make it through your day without coffee, chocolate bars or something to give you a boost
Get up a bit earlier (providing you go to bed earlier) to prepare breakfast to avoid the need to buy a coffee and muffin or donut for breakfast or mid-morning snack
Set your VCR so that you can watch your favourite program while you exercise on your treadmill or Stairmaster
Keep a balanced scheduled in order to have the energy and motivation to exercise and eat healthy and resist unwanted food cravings
Keeping extra healthy snacks on hand in your desk or purse so that you're always prepared
Recruit a friend and schedule daily lunch-hour walks or weekly exercise sessions and take this commitment as seriously as you would a business meeting.

Keeping good health as a priority is the prerequisite to make everything else in life possible!
