Choosing Doing Over Feeling 2009-12-05
My challenge to myself during the next 27 days is to be not led by my feelings. I will rely on my goals to motivate me and continue to do what I need to do everyday regardless of what mood I’m in.

This is HUGE. I am down 8lbs...it feels good...but more importantly, I am committed to not losing these same 8lbs again...this Christmas or next.

Making Healthy, Holy Choices at Christmas

Don't let the Christmas Holidays sabotage all of your hard work. Keep focused on your goals despite what's happening around you.

Scripture to reflect on: “I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live." ~Deut. 30:19

I’ve heard that people make about 120 decisions each and every day.

Throw the Christmas season into the mix and you could probably double that statistic. Beloved, don't let Christmas sabotage all of your hard work. Keep focused on your goals despite what's happening around you.

Let me ask you this,'Why do you do what you do?' Frequently we're not even sure-- you do things just because it’s what you’ve always done: very often your choices are based on habit rather that what is right or best for you.

Often when we feel afraid and vulnerable or stressed, we revert to what we’ve always done, regardless of whether it’s good for us or not.

When tested, the Israelites went back to what they knew best – grumbling and complaining and worshipping false idols.

But glory to God that He has given us a new heart and a new spirit that allows us to live by His rules and not our own (Ezekiel 36:26-27).

Before you make another decision about what you eat today, ask yourself whether your choice will produce life or death in your body.

Will the foods you are consuming help you lose weight or gain weight? Healthy food choices such as fruits and vegetables produce life for your body and your cells, whereas processed and sugary foods produce death for your cells and your body.

Over the Christmas holdays:

  • keep your eyes fixed on your goal and don't allow yourself to get caught up the Christmas indulgences
  • samples some of the special Christmas food but know which foods you must stay away from
  • pray for the spririt of self-control
  • begin to put your health plan in place for 2009
  • let your accountability partner know your strengths and weaknesses and ask them to

help you during difficult times ( consider sending them a weekly progress report)

  • see food from a kingdom perspective-- if you can't take authority over a piece of cheesecake how will you take authority over the enemy!

Have a Merry Christmas as you make good food choices throughout the holidays and always. God wants us to choose life!!
